Party at Ponce

Pig Out On October 1

I can’t remember a Saturday in Atlanta with more food and drink events than this Saturday, October 1, 2011. Here is a rundown of the main events below.

Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival– The 3rd annual Atlanta Bar- B- Q Festival takes place in Atlantic Station on Friday, September 30 from 4 -10PM and Saturday, October 1 from 12- 8PM. Fox Bros Bar-B-Q, Jim N Nick’s, Williamson Bros, and Hottie Hawg’s are among the many restaurants participating. Admission is $6 and you’ll need to purchase tasting tickets at the event for the barbecue. Click here for more information.

Battle of the Burgers and 5K– Running a 5K and eating burgers all day go together like peanut butter and jelly. Okay, not really, but there are lots of great restaurants participating in the event this year and proceeds benefit Embraced- a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that collects and shares gently-used medical equipment with individuals in need- both locally and globally. There are over 20 restaurants in total participating including popular burger favorites like Farm Burger, Grindhouse Killer Burgers and Cypress Street Pint & Plate. The event is from 11AM- 8PM on Saturday, October 1 at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland. Advanced tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.

Party at Ponce – Local music favorites Shawn Mullins, Indigo Girls, and Francine Reed headline The Ponce City Market kickoff event benefiting The Atlanta Beltline Partnership and Georgia Organics on October 1 from 7 – 11 p.m. Many of Atlanta’s top chefs and restaurants will be offering delicious samples and guests will have an opportunity to tour the old Sears building. Tickets can be purchased here for $90. The location for Party at Ponce is 675 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE.

Hotoberfest- I’ve said it many times – Hotoberfest is the best beer festival in Atlanta. Period. Over 265 craft beers are available for tasting and the VIP area offers rare beers that make even the biggest beer geeks squeal with anticipation. Check out the beer list here. This year’s event takes place in the Glenwood Park community from 12- 7PM on October 1 with VIP tasting starting at 2PM and general admission at 3PM. Advanced tickets are $30 for general admission and $75 for VIP.
