Hammocks Trading Company opened off Roswell Road between Abernathy Road and Northridge Drive on August 3. The restauranteurs behind the restaurant have some impressive resumes. Chef William Sigley spent years in Vegas before moving to Atlanta to open Aquaknox. He would later become Executive Chef at Bone’s and Aja before joining forces with Jason Sheetz to open Hammocks Trading Company. Sheetz comes from Here to Serve Restaurant Group where he was general manager of Twist.
My wife and I decided to try the restaurant tonight after I mentioned the Sunday Alaskan Snow Crab Legs special ($15.95) to her. I’ll admit that I’m not a big seafood person but my wife loves it and there are few people whose opinion I trust more than hers when it comes to seafood.
We were very impressed with the prices. Small plates range from $4.50 to $8.50, A dozen oysters are $11, and entrees are less than $20. We went with a half dozen oysters, Alaskan Snow Crab Legs, garlic smashed potatoes, corn and house made jalapeno cornbread. Plus a Sweetwater IPA for me (a couple decent craft beers). My wife loved the crab legs and felt that the oysters were really good for the price. The garlic smashed potatoes were honestly the best I’ve ever had. The jalapeno cornbread was the only menu item that we didn’t care for but we really enjoyed our meal.
If you live in Sandy Springs or near the area, I highly recommend you check it out. Hammocks Trading Company is located at 7285 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, Ga. 30328.
