The Prado in Sandy Springs

When Sembler decided to redevelop The Prado Shopping Center in Sandy Springs a few years ago, I don’t think any of the locals really believed it could become the hot spot that it was back in the 80′s. However, restaurants such as Fuego Mundo, Genki, 5 Seasons Brewing, Taco Mac, and The Fred have quickly made The Prado ”cool” again.

One of Atlanta’s top sushi restaurants, Genki, opened its 2nd location at The Prado after 13 successful years in Buckhead. The zen-like atmosphere, great food and excellent bartenders (especially Rich) really make Genki one of the best spots in Sandy Springs.

Taco Mac is pretty much heaven for beer lovers with140 beers on tap and 200 in the bottle. Flat screen televisions are strategically located in excess all around the restaurant, bar, and large patio making Taco Mac one of the best sports bars in Atlanta. Don’t let the name fool you….this place is famous for their buffalo wings, not their mexican food.  Below Taco Mac is an underground, speakeasy type bar exclusive for Taco Mac Brewniversity members called “The Fred” which is honestly my favorite spot at The Prado.

5 Seasons Brewing actually opened in The Prado in 2001 and remained open during the redevelopment of The Prado. The brewmaster at 5 Seasons Prado, Kevin McNerney, was one of the founders of Sweetwater Brewing Company. While 5 Seasons may be known for their beer, they are also very passionate about their food. The cuisine is very popular and brings people back just as much as the beer and atmosphere.

Fuego Mundo is starting to get lots of buzz in Atlanta for their quality food with a Latin twist and affordable prices. I was blown away by the flavors of the food and cannot wait to go back again soon! The Fuego Mundo logo looks so familiar that I thought it must be a chain restaurant but was pleasantly surprised to find out that  The Prado is its only location.

Some other restaurants at The Prado include Evos, Yoreka (frozen yogurt), Joli Kobe, and Kobe Steakhouse. The Prado is located just inside the Perimeter on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Check out The Prado soon!
